Application Of Potassium Feldspar In Glass Industry
2021-10-08
Feldspar is one of the main components of glass mixtures. Generally, various glass mixtures mainly use potassium feldspar or albite. The consumption of potassium feldspar in the glass industry accounts for about 50% – 60% of the total consumption. As one of the raw materials of seat glass, the main functions of potassium feldspar are:

- Potassium feldspar is rich in AI2O3 and has low iron content. It can provide AI2O3 required in Glass Batching. It is fusible than Al2O3, with low melting temperature and wide melting range. Therefore, it can reduce the melting temperature of glass and reduce the amount of soda ash. Moreover, aluminum in potassium feldspar replaces part of silicon, which can improve the toughness, strength and resistance to acid-base corrosion of glass.
- The process of potassium feldspar melting into glass is relatively slow and the crystallization capacity is small, which can prevent the precipitation of crystals in the process of glass formation from affecting normal production or glass defects.
- Potassium feldspar can be used as a flux in glass making to reduce the viscosity of liquid glass. Enhance the fluidity, improve the crystal folding tendency of liquid glass, and can also be used as an ingredient for enamel.
